It seems that the heavy fog of January has lifted. Holly’s ankle is just about back to normal. I received positive news about a troubling issue. And my clients have returned to usual, stable behavior. Some tech struggles have been resolved. I’ve made a bit of progress on some admin tasks.
As has almost always been the case, when I procrastinate on a project, and then focus on getting it done, it turns out to be not the big deal that I imagined it would be. The same goes for my writing projects. I have a great start to the third part in this anthology story. I have ideas on how I’ll meet the word count, and I have a uplifting way for it to end.
For years, I listened to the radio while in the car. Then I switched to audiobooks. Now, sometimes I listen to podcasts, but most of the time I enjoy the quiet. It’s in the quiet that scenes arise. Ask any writer, any artist, and they’ll likely say that ideas come to them in the shower or while driving or walking the dog. It’s as if the muse wants a little silence to get her ideas through.
With the past weeks behind me, and most of the fallout of that darkness dealt with, I feel like I’m at the top of a roller coaster just before the car swoops down. With a light heart, I view the movie on the screen in my head. For the first time in a while, my fingers are eager for the pen and the spiral to scratch out the action and words and emotions of characters in the next books in my series. I’m always amazed at and grateful for the clarity to move forward. How has your 2025 going?
