I like where this fella is standing. I miss being in and near water. I used to go to lakes often. Now, I’m away from water, and I don’t think I’m any better for it. Especially this time of year, which is my least favorite, I miss everything that water gives: life, buoyancy, calm, a focus for meditation, coolness. Perhaps someday soon I’ll make a trek to a body of water.
In the meantime, I’m on the cusp of a series of changes. Change in my work schedule (actually, this will be a month-long transition), change in my school schedule (in the classroom instead of online, so a set time instead of when I have time), change in my writing schedule (changes with other priorities has a domino effect).
I have the next 6 weekdays off from work, other than a few sessions. I have no plans to meet people, so that leaves lots of hours open to make headway on so many tasks… small ones and big ones… ones I’ve put off for months… ones that take a significant chunk of time to dig into. First on the list is to publish MV2. (Do I sound like a broken record?). A very close second is taking care of myself. This includes rest, enjoyable reading, rest, splurging on a frozen treat, rest, less computer time, rest… you get the idea 🙂 I won’t have time off again until a couple of days at the end of November, then the end of December.
And somehow, with all the rolling changes, I need to remember my why for writing. I don’t think I’ve forgotten it, but it’s been a long time since I’ve dug into a writing project. I miss it. Like I miss being on the lake. How do you spend your days off?
