Today is the day! Seventeen days beyond my hard deadline, and I don’t regret it. This afternoon, I finished the final digitized document for my class materials. I wrote details on a list of projects for my graphic designer to do. I checked the display on my website and sent a few fixes to my web designer. I started with 5 tubs from the garage, and only 1 is going back on the shelf.
I mentioned my momentum was faltering. This project has taken me 6 months to complete. When I look at the list of items I created, I admit a bit of pride makes me smile. It’s important to me that I make progress on my projects, and I certainly did that! I can see where my time since August has gone and what it has produced. I figured out how to get the tech to work to make these materials available to others. And it goes with other things I’ve done that involved clearing out, bringing the past to the present (and future), and confirming that my focus and determination to doggedly stick with a project until completion is intact.
The last six weeks, things have piled up in my inbox and on my to-do list. I’ll take the weekend to reorder all that stuff and also to celebrate. So often I don’t do much besides tell one or two people that this great big thing I’ve been doing (writing a book, etc.) is done. Well, in the way that some stuff is never really done. Some details still need to be seen to, and like my books, there’s the matter of telling people what I have that might be useful to them.
For today, I’m doing a happy dance and patting myself on the back for a job well done. I have no regrets about going over my deadline, about sticking to this project until it’s done to my satisfaction (which was a practice in itself to not be perfect and to not force everything into something it isn’t meant to be), and reminding myself that all my work is worthy of celebration.
