Holding Together

I thought it was just me that felt this week, maybe the last 2 weeks, have been weird. It’s not a full moon. Maybe a bunch of planets were aligned? I’m not sure, but these last days have been… strange. Several of my clients were off. I thought it best to alert my boss. I didn’t expect him to do anything, just wanted him to be aware. He agreed that things have been weird. My horse wasn’t herself. Some people I know were saying or doing things that I hadn’t noticed before. I read a few newsletters from people that admitted life was different.

In an effort to stay grounded amidst whatever weird energy has settled, I kept to my schedule and made an extra effort. With my horse, I focused on her, spent extra time with her, and paid attention to what was going on around us. With my clients, I was more upbeat, smiled more, gave them extra time to answer questions, and tried to make our sessions a little easier. I was conscious about other drivers (many have been distracted) and gave them extra room on the road. I centered myself in my physical body during yoga.

I can’t say the weirdness has left, but I think it has lessened. I might allow that to be a reason why I focused on other tasks this week instead of writing. To make up some writing time, I’m meeting one of the anthology authors tomorrow for some shared creative space. Out of the four of us, I’m the furthest behind. I still have 2 sections to write. I’m eyeballing the final word count and thinking the last part can be an epilogue. I’m still excited about this project.

In this space of strangeness, I’m holding it together. It took me a few days to see that things were different. I can’t change a lot, but I can control my focus and my responses and what I do with my time. Have you noticed anything different?
