With four days left in 2024, I’m squinting at what I’ve accomplished and what still needs to be done, and I think if I tilt my head and stand on one foot, they’re balanced.
I had the idea that perhaps this year would end with all items crossed off my to-do list. It was tantalizing and exciting for the handful of days I thought I could pull it off. Alas, the best I’m going for is to have a list of items that are “in process” (those that I’ve given to my illustrator, graphics person, and web designer) and a commitment to not carry over domestic-related tasks past January 31.
I published 3 books, wrote 51 blog posts, sent 18 newsletters, juggled free and discounted titles each month, added 2 audiobooks to my list of products, dusted off my Language Arts skills to teach students, and completed 8 college credits for recertification. Six domestic tasks will carry over to January (plus 4 more I’ve added to the list). My queue of titles that I’m working on will remain open until finished (illustrated short story collection, anthology with 3 other writers, holiday novella, math workbook, book 3 in a series).
With La Grande Wheel heading for another revolution, I feel a buzz of excitement at the possibilities. How many titles can I publish in 2025? Will new newsletter and blog subscribers join the journey with me? Will those connections spark conversations? How long can I make my habit streaks? What celebrations will mark my calendar? How quickly can I check off items on my to-do list? What goals or intentions have you set for next year?
I wish you peace in 2025. See you on the other side.
