Great news! My newest math workbook, Building Fluency: Math Vocabulary, is live! Like all my projects, it turned out very different than what I thought. But I’m really pleased with the end result. I included 15 lessons focusing on math concepts. Each lesson starts with a page of words and definitions, then five pages of varied practice, a puzzle page, a journal page, and several pages of flash cards to be cut out and used for games. This makes book five in my Building Fluency series. The other math book ideas I have are very graphic heavy. Until I find a way to do the graphics easily, I’m letting this book be the last one.
The many tiny steps needed to publish a book makes the time from edited to available for sale longer than I think. And I’ve done this 47 times. While I waited for some of the tiny steps that needed to be performed by others on the math book, I turned my focus to editing The Lost Gift. All beta suggestions have been accepted or rejected. Front and back matter have been added. I contacted the cover company and sent them the needed information. They replied with a one to two week time frame before getting back to me with possible covers. This gives me time to finish the edits and double check that all those tiny steps I’m responsible for are done.
I’ve made two editing passes with the anthology stories. I’ve handed it over to another writer in the anthology so she can give the stories a look with fresh eyes. We’re still waiting for writer number four to submit edited stories. I’m sticking by my timeline that if those aren’t submitted by the end of this month, then it will be November before the project could be published. And if not then, well…
I had a little celebration today (vegan cupcake) with the graphic designer who updated this math book cover. I’m aiming for another celebration at the end of the month when The Lost Gift gets its cover and is released. So, what’s next? Hmm… How do you celebrate your wins?
