Too cliche to add the rest of the words to the title: at a time. This morning, I was thinking, as I always do this time of year, how fantastic it would be to live in a place where there are seasons and green grass and trees and rain and less pollution and an easier cost of living (I could go on…). I reminded myself that I’m nearly half-way done with the credits needed for my recertification. The classes are paid for and I need to be on campus for the last one. Now isn’t the time for a geographic relocation. My paid gig is virtual, so that’s a plus. I’m kind of a caretaker, so leaving would complicate someone else’s life. I’ve only had horses here. I don’t know how to take care of Holly in a place with green grass and trees and rain/snow. So, for today, I’m staying.
I say similar things to myself when I’ve worked with clients for many hours. I can relax an hour before bed with a good book because of all the work I did that day. I can put off running errands until I have a day with fewer work hours. Writing happens when my fatigue is at a lower level. One day at a time… what can I do today to take care of what I can? What can wait until tomorrow? Is it worth it to cram tasks in and pay for it later?
One day at a time. When the last class is over, the weather will be livable (I hope). When my clients return to school, I’ll have the mornings for writing. Without devoting hours a day to these classes, I’ll have more time for Holly, for writing, for running errands, for caretaking, for relaxing. One day at a time… the narrator sent a sample of The Bookie. I’m at the editing stage for MV2. My author copies of the latest math book are on their way. I get to meet with a few people and do some writing tomorrow. Do you think about “one day at a time” to help you get through busy/tough times?
