so much new stuff

Here we are, the end of August, and dogs days or not, I’ve got a lot to share with you!  Glad you’re here 🙂

First up, this newsletter! You may not notice a difference and that’s fine. After a while with one email provider, it was time to switch to another. This one offers some features I didn’t have at the old one. As things grow and change, we’re invited to do the same. It was past time I left the old and stepped fully into the new. If I wasn’t so attached to what is familiar, change would be a lot easier!

Next, my books are now available on other online retailers besides my website and Amazon. When I started writing books (2003) and publishing (2008), I took the opportunity to offer my books on all the platforms open at that time. iTunes/iBooks (now Apple Books), Kobo, B&N (the author side changed names from Pubit B&N to B&N Press), Amazon, and my website is where I started. When Kindle Unlimited began, I pulled everything in and stuck with Amazon for a few years. Now, with my catalog expanded, I’m wide once again. Besides Amazon, B&N, Kobo, and Apple Books, you can also find my stories on Scribd. If you’re in Germany or France, you can find my books on other retailers besides Amazon. And if you love libraries like I do, you’ll soon find my stories there through Overdrive and Hoopla.

Speaking of my website (I launched the new one in March of this year), a new tab shows up now on the Home page. “Free Stuff” isn’t a secret code for anything. Here you’ll find two of the three freebie ebooks I’ve already let you know about (From Writer to Author: A Process for Writing and Publishing Your First Book and Building Fluency: Fun and Creative Ways to Support Student Success). Since I was on a roll in repurposing what I had created, you’ll find some infographics. I used to give talks at a local indie bookstore. I took those talks and made cool little “posters” to share. You’ll also find a video I put together from a presentation I gave at a conference about Creative Blocks.

As if that wasn’t enough new stuff, I’m trying something, well, new. Remember that short story fail I started back in June? And I said it was going to be a novel? I’ve been working on fleshing out the story. And, as my stories tend to go, a whole trilogy blossomed! I know what the series will be called, what the titles are for the first 3 books (might be more after… that’s one of many cool things about creativity), and even how they are tied together. Want a hint (or 6)? Gambling ring, private investigator, detective, journalist, bounty hunter, psychiatrist.

My newsletter subscribers were offered two covers for this novel, The Stalker. I’m looking forward to seeing the results of their vote! They were also given a bonus, “Betrayed: The Tanner Trilogy Prequel”. Interested in getting on my newsletter list? You can sign up on my website www.michelevenne.com or use the link in the back of all my stories.

Countdown

Photo by Michele Venne It took four different stores, by I finally found a 2024 calendar with the options I like. It's the same size I've used the past several years, as there's comfort in the familiar, 7 X 8 1/2 inches. It has the months with small squares for each...

Reflecting Before the End

Photo by Michele Venne It's almost the fourth quarter of 2023. Not one to be rushed at the last minute, I start reflecting on the current year, and planning for the next, long before midnight on New Year's Eve. Maybe I'm thrilled that I've survived another summer in...

Organized Flow

Photo by Michele Venne Perhaps the title of this post is an oxymoron. Everything ebbs and flows. Energy. Motivation. Creativity. If we figure out how to wait when whatever it is ebbs, we can focus on other aspects of our life. And when whatever it is flows, if we've...
