Sometimes the next week smooths out after a rough one. And sometimes week two is a continuation of “rough”. I prefer to solve one problem at a time and have the ordeal be done. Like my car. I noticed a shimmy in the steering wheel. I texted my mechanic. He suggested the tires. I made an appointment for the place that takes care of that for me, and the problem was easily solved. Done.
Not so much with Holly. She twisted her ankle. I wrapped and iced it for 5 days. I arrived at the barn believing we could ride a bit in the arena. Then I saw the 4-inch scrape on the inside of her hock. No riding. Back to icing and wrapping. And not so much with me. One issue has snowballed into something else. It prompted me to make a phone call for an appointment. That rolled into several more phone calls, and the issue isn’t resolved.
I mentioned in my newsletter that January felt heavy. I guess the last several days are the effects of that heaviness. I’ve been working and taking care of Holly and trying to knock out some tasks. Some tasks are easy. Others have been… rough. I miss the pretty days of riding in the morning, writing in the afternoons, and seeing clients in the evenings. Perhaps next week things will be better.
I suppose there are two kinds of sliding. One could be the ease in which we glide along with life, like an expert skater on the ice. The other type of sliding is when we lose our footing on some gravel and the momentum takes us as we pinwheel our arms and legs in an attempt to keep our balance.
Soon, balance will be regained. Then in the light of a lavender sky, words will once again create stories. What kind of sliding are you doing?
