Surreal: something that is a bizarre mix of elements; jarring; seemingly nonsensical. This is how I would describe the space I’m in. I completed all my admin tasks (something I didn’t think would ever happen). I met my publishing deadline with The Secret Gift (available on all platforms, including my website for $.99 until July 12). This coincides with my Tanner Trilogy audiobooks being 25% for the month of July wherever you find your audio stories… with all my ebook titles being 25% off on Smashwords for the month of July… with my medieval Irish novel, Of Gifts and the Goddess, on sale everywhere for $1.99 for the month of July… with my writing desk cleared of paper, except for the spiral notebooks waiting to be filled with their respective stories.

Taking a moment to be grateful for being back in Fictionland, I wrote little Wednesday on a new short story. I’m not sure what happened yesterday, but it wasn’t writing. This morning, on the drive home from the ranch, I thought about the short story. I wasn’t sure I wanted to write a political piece. In moments, the muse filled in the blanks about the main characters. Other than baseball and my beloved Holly, my weekend is open. I’ll see how many words I get down by Monday. My idea is to build momentum with a short story, then move into the Roanoak world. That series is long overdue to be added to and finished.

This short story makes 4 projects that have been started and are in various forms of completion. But this story is the only one I’m directly responsible for. I have two narrators working on audiobooks (been so long since I’ve wanted this that it, too, feels surreal). The graphic designer is working on content for my Amazon pages (she’s going on vacation and will resume in August when she returns). My day job has chunks of available time, which I can fill with fiction writing. I’ll do my best to not waste this opportunity. How does your space feel? Ever had a time in your life where circumstances seemed surreal, in a positive way?

Fitting Into a Box
