I remember a time when I didn’t have a horse. I filled my life with starting my career, finding fulfilling relationships, and figuring out how to be an independent adult. When I found a horse, it was as if my tilted world righted itself.
There have been stretches of time after I decided to write my first book that writing wasn’t part of my daily or weekly routine. Returning to that artistic endeavor was like snuggling in a comfy chair.
I’m grateful every day for the horse I have. I’m grateful for the words I write, and I’m proud of the projects I’ve published. I miss writing like I missed having a horse.
I’ve been looking forward to next week. My schedule fully flips, opening up chunks of time. Part of that will be dedicated to the class I’m taking. I’m hoping a larger part will find me with my spiral notebook, hand sliding across the page as I record the movie I see in my head. Just like I missed the joy of having a horse, I miss the joy of writing.
I have two days to prepare, to shift my mindset, to settle with the past, to turn forward and see where the road will take me. When was the last time you were eager for a transition?
